DUB gives away tickets for the opening show of the Spring Performing Arts Festival


From 16 to 25 May 2019, the Spring Performing Arts Festival will temporarily take over the city. There are shows in Stadskantoor, Hoog Catharijne, on the Neude and in several theatres throughout the city. DUB gives away tickets for the opening show!

This edition of the Spring Performing Arts Festival focuses on robots and humans, cultural identities and global connections, people and the city. These themes are represented in various shows such as dance performances, documentary theatre plays, humanoids, and bondage art. The performances can be seen at several locations in the city.

The common thread in the programme is pieces that engage with new technology including amazing performances and installations from Rimini Protokoll (Uncanny Valley), Dries Verhoeven (Happiness), Jeroen van Loon (Ephemeral Data) and many others. But not only technology is presented; humanity will also be shown in the programme with Super Human: Performing Humanity. All lines on the festival are intertwined and supplemented by a congress on Performing Robots, organized by Utrecht University.

Opening show
The title of the opening show is the programme Attractor. In this show two Australian dance societies, Lucy Guerin Inc and Dancenorth, join each other. Together with the Indonesian musical duet Senyawa, who give their own interpretation to the Javanese tradition in which dance and music cause a trance. In the show the audience and performers are brought together in a shared ritual.
