Roffa Mon Amour and Cinea, the Flemish service for film culture, have joined forces and are organizing the first Dutch edition of Summer Film School. In Belgium this annual event takes place since 1981. In this first edition in Rotterdam, the work of the American film director Brian De Palma and the French film director Alain Resnais. Resnais was part of the artist group Rive Gauche and is known for his visual, literary cinema. De Palma is seen as a protagonist in the Movie Brat generation of film directors.
Practical information
The five-day program of Summer Film School Rotterdam consists ten lectures. There is daily one course about Brain De Palma and one course about Alain Resnais. After each lecture there will be a film screening from the oeuvre of the film director just discussed. Both subjects can be followed separately. The lectures take place in the Drijvend Paviljoen and the screenings in the LantarenVenster, which is a four minute walk from each other. Both the lectures and the films are in English (subtitled).
